A bit about me…

I am a New England based Artist, as well as, a quintessential red-headed Scorpio. This completely explains why I am all over the map with my chosen medium(s), subject(s), art style, and well… life in general.

My story begins in 1972 in the sleepy, southern New England town of Rochester, Massachusetts. I grew up in a log home that my father built by hand. He was a Mason, and my mum, a 4th grade Teacher. They were both creative in their own right, and passed it along to me. I have been consumed with creative projects and ‘artsy’ things since I learned how to hold a crayon. My younger days were filled with drawing, painting, writing, collaging, and building miniature homes for my various dolls. I grew up in the sub-suburbs, and didn’t have access to craft stores, so my early art was mostly made from found and/or repurposed things, and being ‘creative’ was essential.

I continued pursuing art throughout my school years, all the way through college where I earned a degree in Fine Art / Graphic Design. It was around this time that life got the better of me, and I abandoned the art world all together. During this period, I married the best Husband a girl could wish for, worked a few menial jobs, delved into the world of finance selling insurance and investments. After I realized that I had absolutely NO IDEA what I was even selling, I returned to school where I earned my BA in Psychology, from the University of Massachusetts.

After school, life got busy as it always does in those ‘in between’ years. I dabbled in art here and there, but nothing consistent, or meaningful. During this time, I owned, and was Lead Designer, at Kitchen & Bath Details. This successful design firm was built from the ground up with my sister, and would still be thriving if it weren’t for the pandemic and its subsequent lockdowns. Losing a business is devastating- to say the least. I tended to the emotional wounds caused by this unfair and sudden loss for the better part of a year. It was my core love of art that pulled me out of my funk. Since then, I have tried my very best to paint everyday, and re-learn much of the long forgotten technical aspects of painting. I have also been experimenting with a multitude of mediums and substrates, hoping to flush-out my personal ‘style’. I’ve learned that I create the best art using whatever medium my mood dictates.

My art is inspired by my little corner of the world, Buzzard’s Bay. My past lives, and perhaps, some of the demons I’ve picked up along the way also serve as inspiration. I’m tenacious, yet indecisive, I’m a messy creator, yet have a mid-range case of OCD. I create joyful/colorful pieces, and also dark/ominous ones. You could say I’m all over the map, but I find so much joy in everything I create.

I currently reside in the historic, seaside town of Fairhaven, Massachusetts, with my Husband, Dana and our rescue Jack-a-bee (Jack Russell-Beagle Mix), Bailey (aka Eggroll), and our bossy cat, Princess Penelope (aka Prissy -Picky-Pants), and the three little kittens, Cisco, Ginger and Poppy.
